Sentence

  • A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense.
  • It starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (.), question mark (?) or exclamation mark (!).
  • Example:
    • Safety is everyone’s responsibility.1 sentence

Line

  • A line is simply the words written across one row on the page or screen (like in a notebook or Word file).
  • A sentence can be written in one line or may continue into two or more lines depending on page size and spacing.
  • Example: Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Always wear your PPE at work.
    • Here, there are 2 lines but 2 sentences also.
    • If the page was narrow, one sentence could spread over 2 lines.

👉 So,

  • Sentence = grammar meaning (complete thought)
  • Line = physical writing on paper/screen
